Admit it. You've always been a bit of a rebel. You wouldn't think twice about jumping on the back of a bike (not the kind you pedal) and that leather jacket you sport all the time isn't just for show. It's about time your house matched your badass personality. Ting Home has the perfect thing: Embossed leather flooring. On first glance, it looks like ordinary wood flooring, but a closer look reveals patterned strips of leather. Awesome.

Tables for every occasion.

Enologist Cabinet, Roche-Bobois

I love nothing more than to sit on a back patio with a chilled glass of Riesling and a plate of cheese and fruit and chat with friends and family until the mosquitoes chase us indoors. Sometimes, when the weather is cool enough, the mosquitoes don't make an appearance and we can hang out well into the night. That's when I would want a setup like the one above (from a Grange ad). Strands of fairy lights and mismatched paper lanterns are such a better alternative to tiki torches and citronella candles.
Since Martha Stewart could never leave anything plain, hers have pretty paper butterflies affixed. I like these for a sweet outdoor chandelier at a dinner party.
The Nuevo Star lanterns have a little more punch and I love them in small doses. I would have never thought to place one in front of a cabinet/bar, but it's cute and quirky! BTW: We carry these at the store in lots of vibrant colors!

This Is What Heaven Looks Like...
7:08 AM
via Elle Decor May '09
I recently uploaded some new finds to the Rooms We Love section (to your right!), and was particularly fond of these two finds. Okay, "fond" is an understatement. I think they're heavenly. I love how to bed above combines modern and vintage so literally. The mismatched nightstands are the perfect complement to the traditional/modern/eclectic style.via Domino's final issue :(
I've been salivating over this photo for a while. I absolutely love the drapes! They add softness to the windows without blocking the light, and the calm neutral fabric doesn't overpower the rest of the peaceful room. The cowhide stool add a touch of rustic cool to the traditional (with funky, modern pillows) settee. I don't know what your version of Heaven looks like, but this is mine!
P.S. Happy 30th Birthday, hubby! I love you!

HF Weekly Obsession: You're So Tree-sy
7:35 AMOnce I got a good look at the Tree Cycle Crystal Stool, I realized it was quite pretty with sections of sparkle captured within the tree stump. It would make the perfect little side table with a nice coffee table book and a vase of peonies. I'm just thinking aloud here...
I'm sure you don't need reminding that Cynthia Bogart is making her debut this Saturday at Laszlo's Warehouse. You already know she'll be showing her breathtakingly beautiful works on paper. You've gathered your entourage, figured out what you'll wear, mapped out directions. You're ready, you're set. So telling you that it starts at seven and that you can find more information here or here really isn't necessary. And it goes without saying that I don't need to remind you that it will be great. You already know that. See you there!
Words fail me completely sometimes, 17 x 20", ink, watercolor, and pen on paper.
I stored these images a while ago, but for whatever reason, I am only now coming back to them. These are photographs of the home of Lee Radziwill in the April '09 issue of Elle Decor.
I wrote a similar blog about using one pattern in a room, but that was one room in a house and these are multiple single-patterned rooms within one house! On the one hand, it's a little traditional for my taste (But for someone born in 1933, that's to be expected.), but on the other hand, it works. The patterns are busy, but not gaudy. They grab your eye and lead it around the room. I think they're stunning. Who's with me?
I wish I had stumbled upon this sooner. My husband's birthday is coming up in a week or so and this would be the perfect cheeky add-on to his present. You see, several months ago, John annoyed me into letting him buy Little Big Planet, which, in my mind, was just another one of his dang video games. He begged me to play it with him- just once- and see if I liked it. And you know what? I did. The main reason I liked it was the main character, Sackboy. He's just oh-so-adorable with his tongue sticking out all the time and his floppy arms.

So, like I said, I would love to make one of these for John, but, alas, I don't know how to knit (well), and I've just got too much other stuff to do. Someday, though. Someday.
How time gets away from me! I haven't written one of these since February! I'd say it's about time, eh?
This time around, the pool, and the cocktails that surround them, was my inspiration. I've paired an outdoor party theme with a signature drink and added a dash of fashion to bring a little summer to our little blog. Enjoy!
P.S. As you can see, I had a bit of fun with Poladroid. It's awesome!
I know Cinco de Mayo is in the past, but that's no reason not to throw an improptu fiesta en la playa! Serve up some top notch maragaritas and sport a bright patterned suit by Emilio Pucci.

How about a sweet garden party complete with colorful butterflies and chic hats? Serve your guests a twist on a classic with a Peach Julep, and up the sugar factor in a floral maillot by Badgley Mischka.
recipe via Martha Stewart.
You can't not celebrate Independence Day! And just watching the Will Smith flick doesn't count. In addition to burgers and barbeque, whip up a colorful beverage in your star-spangled suit by Michael Kors.
recipe via Food Network.
Everybody's Hawaiian at a Luau! Especially when you're offering Honeyhole Punch in a tropical swimsuit by Jean Paul Gaultier.
recipe via The Knot.
I saved my favorite for last. Nothing beats a wine and cheese party, especially when the wine comes in Sangria form and the cheese is extra smelly! Put on something sophisticated in basic black, from Just Cavalli, with a hint of sparkle to play the perfect hostess.
