I don't know if you noticed, but it's REALLY hot outside. As in, triple-digit hot. Let's just say I'd like to be as bare as possible when facing the great outdoors. At this point, if I could walk around all day in a swimsuit, I would. I imagine my week would look something like this:
Monday: They say red is the best color for board meetings because it conveys power. Does that mean the little heart print conveys a love of power? Let's go with "yes". Victoria's Secret T-Cutout Monokini, on sale at $29.50.

Tuesday: Something sophisticated is needed for the annual review. Could I get some Louboutins for a dash of color? J. Crew Jersey Lomellina Ruched Tank, $115.
Wednesday: A black string bikini is as classic for swimwear as a Chanel suit is for couture (right?). This will work perfectly for a business dinner to woo a new client. Gap Essential String Bikini Top & Bottom (sold separately).
Thursday: Company Happy Hour at 4! It's time to have some fun! Athleta Pop Art Splice Tankini, $69.
If that's what we're wearing to work, imagine the weekends!
Friday: It's the end of the week! Put on something pretty to motivate you through the paperwork and push you on to the weekend. Anthropologie Chinaberry Grove Bandeau & Bottoms (sold separately), $78 each.

HF Weekly Obsession: For the Ladies
6:00 AMWe're adding another facet to our little midtown store: boutique. The entire first floor has been transformed with the arrival of a few very cool and comfortable lines of woman's clothing. We've even added a fitting room (a project that was tackled exceptionally by Cynthia, our store's displayer)!
We're slowly bringing in new lines of tees, dresses, and pants for your shopping pleasure.
I love these easy, simple dresses from Dolan. I don't care how cute something is if it isn't comfy, but these feel as good as they look. We've got this dress in purple and a funky tie-dye.Woman cannot live in dresses alone. On weekends, hoodies are key, and one with interesting details keeps you from that rolled-out-of-bed look (even if you did just roll out of bed). Try one from Splendid, the masters of comfort. We've got the one above in sunny yellow!
I think these satin harem pants from Maggie Ward are so cool. They're as light as air, so when you pair them with dressy heels and a simple top, you'll feel just like Lady Gaga (you know, sans pants).
There are only so many ways you can do a white tee, but I love the slouchy pocket on this one from K. Allyn. It's a white tee, but fashionized. Get yours here.
I have an odd hobby. It's not odd in general- just for a 26-year-old. I love to cross-stitch. My mom did it. My sister did (does?) it. I do it. It's relaxing. The only skills needed are the abilities to count and undo knots. When I finish a piece, I get a frame-worthy piece of art that I didn't even have to design myself!
I can't help but feel I'm not the only one into stitching with all of the needlepoint-inspired details out there. I found all of these gems at Anthropologie...
Not only is the silhouette for the Bistrica Top perfect for summer, the cross-stitched roses are too romantic! $88
This Nearly Needlepoint Satchel would cost a fortune if the entire design was hand-stitched, but it's printed so it's more in my price range at $90.
This is the kind of thing I could see making for myself, but Anthropologie does a pretty good job, too! Alstromeria Ottoman, $298.
Nothing like a dose of inspiration to get your week going. I spied these Lizzie Thomas pop-ups in a magazine and was instantly smitten! Imagine the skill and patience that went into creating these miniatures worlds of wood and paper. I think I'm in love...
Hidden Winter, £315
You know that feeling when you get a handwritten note in the mail? It feels good, like someone took that little bit of extra time to say hello. Handwriting is undeniably warmer than the cold text of Times New Roman. That's why I love the ways that designers are incorporating handwriting into their pieces...
If rugs could talk, I imagine they wouldn't appreciate being walked all over. Negative Rug by Kasthall.
Shakespeare gets ushered into a new medium- wallpaper! By Tracy Kendall.

A Touch of Goth
5:42 AM
I figure anytime a new Twilight trailer comes out, people will embrace their inner vampire and goth it up a bit. I'm liking the loads of black lace in fashion and design right now. It's just enough to make Edward Cullen do a double-take...
...Especially if you were sporting Stella McCartney like Liv Tyler at the Time 100 or Kate Bosworth at the Met Ball!
Now, that's what one would call "Sex on Legs". Lace Stilettos by Coppelia Pique.
Goth for beginners: Free People "Lacey Insert Blouse", $98 at 80's Purple.
Throw a midnight party with this as the centerpiece. Come Rain, Come Shine Chandelier in Black by Tord Boontje.
Chanel always nails the look... even for Spring.
Add a dash of goth to your packages with Lace Tape in black, $10 at Matter.
If you're anything like me, you have a lot of, for lack of a better term, crap hanging around. This is probably the chief complaint my husband has with our small, one-bedroom apartment. I have too much stuff and not enough places to hide it all. That's why I find myself dreaming of these cabinets that I pulled from an issue of Domino...
Literally, a place for everything! Store the kids' stuff on the lower shelves. Leave some door-less to display your good-lookin' books and knick-knacks. Then, when the threat of visitors looms, hide it all behind closed doors. I think my favorite thing about this is that the family made this themselves! Now, that's impressive. I'll be sure to add this to the honey-do list...

I don't know about you guys but I love James Bond movies. The best part would be the fact that he has the coolest, high-tech gadgets. Well, wait no more because we will be able to talk to someone via wrist watch!
LG is releasing the GD910 this July in Europe. The list of cool components range from a Bluetooth, 1.4-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, text to speech capability, and MP3 player--it's pretty much loaded. All we have to do is wait until it's available in the United States!!

Ruffles and Summer go together like me and Starbucks: best of friends. Ever since I blogged about this jacket from Anthropologie...
...back in January, I've been hooked on tiered sleeves. Since then, it seems like I've seen them all over the place.
For instance, Daniella whipped up this tiered coat for The Fashion Show (I am hooked.)...
Then, I spied this Moschino trench within the pages of Marie Claire...
What a shame! It's 2900 bucks. Oh well, scrap that one. I also spied this Anna Sui jacket with little mini ruffled sleeved at ShopBop.

Please, oh please, say that tiers are here to stay!
To kick off my homage to the resurgence of all things 80's (gasp!), I've collected a few neon treasures that I'd love to sport. I'm not going full on bright with an outfit of neon Units (oh, yeah! Remember those?!), but I could rock a neon necklace with a black dress. The 80's is back... take it in small doses.
Clockwise from top left: Tom Binns "Dumont Noir Fluorescent Earrings", $220; J. Crew "Neon Patent Capri Sandals" in Neon Orange, $39.50; Givenchy Necklace (coming to Macy's); Dannijo "Collage Ring" in Electric Pink, $190.

Pardon me for using the blog for my own selfish use, but this picture was too adorable to pass up.
Cynthia's show, Hey You, was a great success- beautiful art, beautiful people, and the wine was flowing. A few nights later, she held another showing for friends and family. I decided to take my seven-year-old nephew Daniel. He is an avid drawer (and an amazing one at that! I'm not biased or anything...) and I suspected he might get a kick out of seeing a professional artist's work. He didn't just get a kick out of it. He was enthralled. We looked at every piece at least twice. I snapped this picture of him while he stared intently at this piece, entitled Hey...You?, for a good five minutes. I love to see a little kid with an interest in art!
Watercolors are no longer just for paper and art gallery walls. Try some out on your tees. The designs are soothing, cool, and oh-so-summery. I've picked some out for you... just pick your price point:
Low: American Eagle Outfitters Flower T in Chalk, $24.50
